James Kelso Vice President, Video Engineering, Cox Communications Inc.
![]() As Vice President, Video Engineering, for Cox Communications, James Kelso oversees the architecture, selection, integration, testing and engineering design of current and future video network elements and associated technologies. He works closely with vendors to facilitate Cox-specific needs for core video and interactive services, and establishes strategies for system-level design of networks, infrastructures, and technology roadmaps. Kelso originally joined Cox in 1987 as a Video Production Manager in Gainesville, Florida, and he joined the corporate engineering team as Director of Engineering for Cox Media in 1991. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing & Communications for SeaChange, where he led product development and marketing efforts behind SeaChange’s video-on-demand and cable advertising systems. Kelso’s articles, white papers and commentaries on emergent digital video, advertising and on-demand technologies have been published in domestic and international television trade journals. He is a member of the Society of Cable Television Engineers and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and he frequently addresses television, advertising and consumer technology conferences. A graduate of the University of Florida, Kelso holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Telecommunications Management with a specialization in business. March 2007 |
